ScanWords AI — Terms of Use & Subscription Terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the ScanWords AI iOS application (the “App”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms and to the subscription terms below. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

The short version

✓ScanWords AI is free to try; Scanword Pro is an optional auto-renewable subscription.
✓Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
✓You can manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings.
✓Payments and refunds are handled by Apple.

1 The Service

ScanWords AI lets you photograph real-world objects and receive AI-generated translations, pronunciations, and example sentences to help you learn vocabulary. The photo you scan is sent securely to our AI partner (Google) for recognition and is not stored by that service afterward. See our Privacy Policy for how your data is handled.

2 License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your own non-commercial learning. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell, or distribute the App except as permitted by law.

3 Scanword Pro Subscriptions

Scanword Pro is an optional auto-renewable subscription that unlocks unlimited captures, all languages, unlimited reviews, and additional features. Available plans:

Weekly: Billed weekly.
Yearly — with 3-day free trial: Free for 3 days, then billed yearly unless canceled during the trial.

Prices are shown in the App in your local currency and are confirmed at the point of purchase. Prices may vary by region and are subject to change.

4 Payment, Auto-Renewal & Cancellation

Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
Your subscription automatically renews unless it is canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the rate of the selected plan.
You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your App Store account settings after purchase.
Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription that includes that trial.

5 Refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under the App Store terms. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. We are unable to issue refunds directly.

6 Acceptable Use

Do not capture or upload unlawful, harmful, or infringing content.
Do not interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service.
Do not use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or third-party rights.

7 AI-Generated Content

Translations, pronunciations, and example sentences are generated by AI and may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete. ScanWords AI is a learning aid and should not be relied upon for professional, medical, legal, or safety-critical translation.

8 Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, ScanWords AI and its developers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

9 Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes are reflected by updating the “Effective” date above. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

10 Standard EULA & Links

Except where superseded by these Terms, your use of the App is also governed by Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement.
